Titration

Titration is one of the oldest methods for content determination in chemistry. In contrast to gravimetry, no sparingly soluble compounds are dried and weighed, but a reagent of known concentration is added to the dissolved sample until the chemical conversion is complete.

Titration finds broad use in chemical analysis. On the one hand, a titration can be performed very easily and quickly. On the other hand, titration provides a very accurate measurement result after only a few minutes - under optimal conditions.

There are a large number of methods for many parameters from low ppm to 100% levels from all industries; water and environmental analysis, education, as well as food and beverage.

If you need further information, the blog articles on the titration primer, accurate titration using a concrete application example and the FAQ on titration will certainly be very helpful for you. Here, customer questions are answered and our experts provide you with practical tips for the correct handling, care and application of our measurement technology. This gives you as a customer numerous advantages such as error prevention, time savings and reduction of operating costs on your part.

NEW: Whitepaper Water Determination in Cannabis - Download now!

The determination of the water content in cannabis is of great importance for the qualitative assessment of the active components (THC, CBD) as well as its storage stability. Karl Fischer titration offers a selective and reliable alternative to the drying method. Compared to the reference method of national and international pharmacopoeias, which require a determination of the loss on drying over 24 hours, the Karl Fischer method provides selective and reproducible results in less than 30 minutes with a significantly smaller sample quantity.
